US Jobs Report: Mining Adds 5,000 Jobs in June
Mining employment continues to trend upward as the U.S. adds thousands of jobs in June.

Mining added another 5,000 jobs in June, according to data released July 6 from the U.S.

Bureau of Labor Statistics. The increase continues an upward trend in mining employment. Since reaching a recent low in October 2016, the industry has added 95,000 jobs. The majority of the increase is in support activities for mining.

Specifically, support activities for mining increased by 4,300 for the month of June while jobs in oil and gas extraction decreased by just 200.

Some companies continue to and , but it’s nowhere near the level of a few years ago during the industry downturn. In fact, during the recovery, there’s been an as the industry experiences another shale boom.

The Dallas Fed’s most recent (which targets oil and gas professionals in E&P and oilfield services) revealed robust sector growth, a healthy labor buy Wellhead market and growth in activity.
