Talos Energy Wins Discovery Award for 2017 Offshore Mexico Find | Gulf Coast Oil Rig Equipment & Repair
Talos Energy, an independent oil and gas BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast based in Houston, was given the “Discovery of the Year 2017” award during WoodMackenzie’s (WoodMac) annual exploration awards ceremony in June.
Talos was recognized for its Zama oil discovery offshore Mexico in July 2017, the first offshore exploration well to be drilled by the private sector in Mexico. Zama serves as a big find in a new play and the oil in place is expected to be between 1.4 and 2 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
Talos president and CEO Timothy Duncan referred to the Zama find as “both a historic and significant discovery” in a May 7 press statement.
The BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast holds 35 percent interest in the block, while partners Sierra Oil and Gas and Premier Oil hold 40 percent and 25 percent interest respectively.
WoodMac’s award was based on more than 200 senior business leaders and experts votes for the most exciting discovery of 2017.
