Equinor revealed Tuesday that oil rig flanges gulf coast production has now started from the Trestakk subsea field on Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea.

The field, which is tied back to the Asgard A floating oil rig flanges gulf coast production vessel, has estimated recoverable resources of 76 million barrels of oil, according to Equinor. Peak oil rig flanges gulf coast production from the field will be around 44,000 barrels of oil per day and output from the asset is expected to last for 12 years, Equinor highlighted.

“The Trestakk volumes are important for us to maintain profitable operation of Asgard A and to recover more of the original Asgard volumes,” Arne Sigve Nylund, Equinor’s executive vice president for Norway development and production, said in a BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast statement.

“Our draft for development of the Norwegian continental shelf points to the need for new reserves and this is the kind of projects we would like to see many more of in the years to come,” Nylund added.

Equinor holds a 59.1 percent operated interest in Trestakk, with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway AS holding a 33 percent stake and Var Energi AS holding a 7.9 percent interest.
