Chevron Phillips to Supply Pipe to EVX Midstream

Performance Pipe, a division of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP, will supply high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to EVX Midstream Partners LLC to help in the Eagle Ford Basin.

The PlatinumStripe® 1800 Series PE-RT Piping will assist in transporting produced wastewater in the Eagle Ford to multiple saltwater disposal (SWD) facilities. EVX plans to expand the pipeline greater than 300 miles, which will make it the largest SWD pipeline network transporting produced wastewater in the Eagle Ford.

The HDPE pipe is designed for high-temperature environments and will lessen the need for heavy-haul trucks to transfer produced wastewater. It’s estimated to reduce traffic on public roads by 250,000 truck trips per year.

Essentially, the pipeline project is purposed to provide a solution to the higher produced water temperatures associated with shale oil rig flanges gulf coast production in the Eagle Ford. Temperatures are often in the 160- to-180-degree Fahrenheit range and can corrode standard steel piping.

“This project is a great example of how Performance Pipe products carry significant advantages on multiple fronts, including in this case for shale production, the environment, public safety and our highway infrastructure,” EVX Midstream Partners CEO Herb Chambers, IV said in a BOP Blow Out Preventer repair company gulf coast statement. “That is why we believe our SWD pipeline network represents a true win-win for shale producers, our company, local landowners and the Eagle Ford’s economic growth.”
