Members of UK union Unite employed by Total E&P working on North Sea oil and gas platforms are scheduled to go ahead with a 24-hour strike on August 6, a union spokesperson has confirmed.
The union has already carried out two strikes on the North Sea Alwyn, Dunbar and Elgin platforms since July. A full list of stoppages on the three assets, announced by Unite last month, can be seen below.
24-Hour Stoppages
• Starting at 06.00 hours on July 23, August 6 and August 20.
12-Hour Stoppages
• Starting at 12.00 hours on July 30 and August 13.
The union also said there would be a continuous ban on overtime commencing at 00.01 hours on July 23.
The dispute is over pay and working hours, . , analysts at BMI Research said the increasing scale and repetition of labor strikes in the North Sea raises operational risks to both the timelines of new project developments and to the longer-term investment attractiveness of operations in the region.
In a report sent to Rigzone recently, the BMI Research analysts highlighted that the UK and Norwegian offshore sectors had been hit by “several instances of industrial action” recently.
